Marshall County Jail Roster Records
The official starting point is the Marshall County Sheriff's Office Detention Center Inmate Roster disclaimer. That gateway separates Current Inmates from Released Inmates and warns that the online information is a public convenience copy, not the certified official record of the sheriff's office. The live Marshall County current inmate roster is free, public, and did not require a login during research. It displayed name search, current and released tabs, sorting, pagination, mugshot thumbnails, booking details, and profile links.
The roster is strongest for active sheriff custody at the Marshall County Jail. It should not be treated as the final court file, a statewide criminal-history report, or a prison locator. A booking charge can change after a court appearance, and the sample profile itself tells bond companies and people posting bail to call Detention Center staff for current bail amount, charges, and case numbers. The released-inmate URL exists in the sheriff site structure, but it was offline for maintenance when inspected, so released jail records need a fallback chain through the jail phone, court records, or a records request to the proper custodian.
The sheriff's current roster can also help when an Albertville, Boaz, Arab, or Guntersville arrest later shifts into county custody. City pages confirm municipal custody or warrant functions for those cities, but no public city inmate roster was located for Boaz or Arab, and no separate Guntersville city jail page was found. If a city arrest does not appear on the sheriff roster, contact the city police or municipal court first, then check the Marshall County Jail again if a transfer occurs.
Use the Marshall County Inmate Roster
The sheriff roster works best when the search starts broad. The visible search box accepts a first or last name, but the site did not publish wildcard rules or a minimum number of letters. Use the simplest spelling first, then shorten or broaden the search if no record appears. Sorting by booking date is useful for fresh arrests when a full name is uncertain.
- Open the sheriff roster disclaimer and read the warning that the online roster is not the certified official record.
- Select Current Inmates for people believed to be in active Marshall County Jail custody.
- Enter either the first name or last name in the Search By Name field, then use Show All if the result set is too narrow.
- Use Date or Sort Newest to Oldest when checking the newest bookings from a recent arrest.
- Open View Profile for the public inmate profile, including the larger photo and booking details.
- Call 256-582-2034 before relying on bail, charge, or case-number information for release decisions.
The Marshall County Corrections page gives the jail address, jail population type, bond information, remote visitation rules, money vendor links, and mail policy. Custody operations are jail functions, while administrative office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Time-sensitive custody questions should go to the 24-hour sheriff and jail phone.
Marshall County Roster Search Fields
The current roster interface is compact, but it gives several ways to move through the jail population. The name field searches a first or last name. The current, released, and archived links separate custody status, although the released module was offline during research. Date sorting can matter when a recent booking is easier to find by time than by spelling.

The visible filters match the research inventory: name search, current and released custody tabs, sort controls, booking cards, mugshot thumbnails, and profile links for deeper review.
Marshall County Inmate Profile Fields
A public profile gives more detail than the list card. The inspected sample profile showed a single front-facing mugshot, a booking number, demographic abbreviations, the arresting agency, the booking date, the charge text, and the sheriff's warning that bail and charges can change after court appearances. It did not show a public housing unit, court date, warrant number, full date of birth, address, height, weight, projected release date, or prior booking-photo gallery.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot | One public booking image when available on the profile. |
| Name | List view uses LAST, FIRST; profile view uses the full name as the heading. |
| Booking # | Numeric jail booking identifier for that custody event. |
| Age | Age shown on the current roster display. |
| Gender and Race | One-letter abbreviations on the inspected profile. |
| Arresting Agency | Agency name and code when populated, such as a city police department. |
| Booking Date | Date and time in month-day-year format with AM or PM. |
| Charges | Booking charge text, which may differ from later filed court charges. |
| Bond/Bail Warning | Notice that charges and bail may change and should be verified with jail staff. |

The profile image illustrates why roster data should be read as booking information first. Formal filed charges and court settings belong in the court record, not in the jail profile alone.
Marshall County Jail and Other Locators
Marshall County inmate records split by custody system. The county roster covers pretrial and local jail custody at the sheriff's detention center. After a person is sentenced to state prison and transferred, the correct search moves to the Alabama Department of Corrections inmate search. Federal custody uses the BOP inmate locator, and immigration detention uses ICE ODLS. VINELink can be used for custody and release notification where the person or agency participates, but notification systems do not replace the jail roster or the court docket.
| Custody or Record Need | Where to Look | Scope Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Current county jail custody | Marshall County current inmate roster | Public booking profile, not a certified court file. |
| Released county inmate | Released roster if online, then jail phone or records channel | Released module was offline during inspection. |
| Formal charges and settings | Alacourt or Circuit Clerk | Paid portal or clerk access, not a jail roster. |
| Sentenced Alabama prisoner | ADOC inmate search | Current ADOC custody only, no historical online database. |
| Federal prisoner | BOP inmate locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detainee | ICE ODLS | A-number or exact biographical search; no public mugshot gallery. |
Custody distinction: A county jail booking is not the same as an ADOC prison record or a federal inmate record. Use the agency that currently holds the person.
Marshall County Jail Facility Contacts
The Marshall County Jail is the primary confirmed county detention facility. Albertville, Boaz, and Arab also publish official municipal jail or holding information, but each city has different public access. Do not import the county jail's JailATM, Inmate Sales, mail, or visitation rules into the city facilities unless the city itself publishes that rule.

Marshall County Booking Records
Official pages do not publish a full intake manual, but the roster and corrections materials show the local flow. After an arrest by the sheriff, a city police department, ALEA, or another agency, the person may be taken to county or municipal custody. When the jail creates the booking record, the public roster can show name, booking number, age, booking date, mugshot, charges, and arresting agency. Corrections job descriptions also describe admitting and releasing inmates, daily logs, medical aid, inmate checks, shift inspections, and disciplinary paperwork.
The first court step is separate from the jail record. Alabama Rule of Criminal Procedure 4.4 addresses initial appearance, where the judge confirms identity, gives charge and rights advisements, handles counsel issues, and sets release conditions. The jail profile may show the initial booking charge, while the court record later shows the formal charge, case status, setting date, disposition, and any amended or dismissed counts. For the court side, use Marshall County court records after jail arrest.
- Booking
- Jail intake event after arrest, when identity, charge, photo, and custody data are recorded.
- Initial appearance
- Early court hearing where rights, charges, counsel, and release conditions are addressed.
- Detainer
- A hold from another agency or jurisdiction that can keep a person in custody.
- PR bond
- Personal recognizance release based on a promise to appear rather than a posted cash amount.
Marshall County Jail Visitation Records
Marshall County Jail visits are remote, monitored, and recorded. The sheriff page says visits are scheduled through Inmate Sales online or through the visitation kiosk in the front lobby. It also states visits cannot be scheduled by calling the Sheriff's Office phone. The Sheriff's Office may terminate, suspend, or cancel visits for safety or security, and visitors who act inappropriately may be suspended from visitation.
| Item | Official Detail |
|---|---|
| Visit mode | All visits are remote. |
| Scheduling | Online through Inmate Sales or on the front-lobby kiosk. |
| Phone scheduling | The sheriff page says visits cannot be scheduled by calling the Sheriff's Office phone. |
| Cost | Remote visitation costs $0.20 per minute, paid by the visitor. |

| Friends and family support | 702-829-3001. |
| Albertville City Jail | Sunday visitation from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. |
Note: Confirm custody before scheduling a visit, because city custody, county jail custody, and ADOC prison custody use different rules.
Mail Money and App Channels
Marshall County Jail uses different services for money, phone funds, visits, and mail. Commissary deposits go through JailATM online, by phone at 866-516-0115, or at the Sheriff's Department lobby kiosk. Telephone money goes through Inmate Sales online, by phone at 877-998-5678, or at the visitation lobby kiosk on Tuesday and Thursday. These are county jail channels. ADOC uses Access Corrections for state-prison money and ICSolutions for prison communication, so do not mix those systems with the Marshall County Jail record.
Routine personal mail changed in late 2024. After November 25, 2024, personal mail should be sent to Marshall County Jail, Inmate Name/Inmate Number, PO Box 16060, Jonesboro, AR 72401 for scanning into the JailATM communication account. Beginning December 1, 2024, routine inmate mail sent directly to the jail facility is not accepted. Legal mail from the attorney of record is treated differently when it is clearly marked as private legal mail and includes the inmate's name.
The sheriff also publishes the Marshall County Sheriff AL app page, with links to the Apple App Store and Google Play. Official store descriptions say the app supports crime reporting, tips, interactive features, and public-safety information. App reviews mention inmate-list features, but official app-only inmate search fields were not verified, so the public web roster remains the documented roster channel.
